Angelia Hayes - The Achy Artist

Hi! I’m Angelia Hayes! That’s actually pronounced Angela. Which happens to be my Daughter-in-law’s name. I tease her all the time that mine is spelled the correct way.

Anyway, I’m a self-taught artist. I’ve been drawing and painting since I was 10 years old and this year, I will hit the big 64 (2025). I loved to watch my Aunt Goldie paint when I was very young. She painted in oils. So, I had a very early interest in art.

My husband of 43 years, Kerry, is my soulmate. We have been together since I was 15. He is my biggest fan and greatest support. He always says we have 4 bedrooms. I have my painting studio, my sewing room, he has his library which is mainly my storage overflow, and we have our room. We also have a 12×12 screened in porch that he’s closed in that he’s been working on for a couple years. He’s in no hurry because he knows I’m claiming that as well. That’s where I plan to set up my 3D printer and my sublimation stuff. That will give me room in my other rooms LOL.

We have one son who is our pride and joy. Martin is a Machinist and from all accounts is a great one. He brought us my beautiful daughter-in-law, Angela who we adore.

I have moved away from traditional art for the most part since the pain of Ankylosing Spondylitis, Fibromyalgia and Degenerative Disc Disease has taken a toll on me but I do still dabble with my first love of acrylics on days I feel really good. Now I mainly do digital art.

On April 11th, 2023 I had a triple bypass. It has been a struggle to come back from it. But I completed 12 weeks, 36 sessions of cardiac rehab on November 8th, and I felt better than I had in 15 years. They worked with me on stretching which helped with my Fibromyalgia and Ankylosing Spondylitis. But then they put me on a medication to keep me from clogging back up. After about 14 months on it I had a sever reaction and it has really taken me down again. I’m just trying to recover at the start of 2025. I’m hoping that I get back on my feet this summer and can reall put some new designs out there.

My first step in getting back out there to my followers is getting this site updated. I have worked on it for weeks but it’s finally coming together. I hope you like it!!

I hope you find a home here or on our Facebook Group. Stop by the message boards and tell us a little about you. I love making friends! You can also find me on Instagram @theachyartist, make sure to stop by for a visit.
